FAQ
At MUSMEAT, we take Halal very seriously — not as a label, but as a principle of faith, welfare, and honesty.
All our trusted abattoirs are third-party Halal certified and maintain up-to-date certification records.
We strive to practice following the Shariah and the Prophetic example (Sunnah) as closely and sincerely as possible.
Our Halal Process – Beef & Lamb
UK-grown, organic, grass-fed, and hand-slaughtered without stunning.
Slaughter is performed by a trained Muslim who recites the name of Allah (Bismillah, Allahu Akbar).
Ensures the process is swift, humane, and fully Shariah-compliant.
Our Halal Process – Chicken
UK-grown, grain-fed, and hand-slaughtered.
Halal certified by an independent third-party body (not self-certified).
Stunned to recover before slaughter (semi-conscious, not killed by stun).
Every bird is slaughtered by hand, individually, with the name of Allah recited.
One trusted supplier ensures consistency, traceability, and authenticity.
Why Stunning is Permissible
The arrow was used to tame/stun the animal.
1- Sahih al-Bukhari (5544)
Narrated Rafi bin Khadij:
While we were with the Prophet. on a journey, one of the camels ran away. A man shot it with an arrow and stopped it. The Prophet said, "Of these camels some are as wild as wild beasts, so if one of them runs away and you cannot catch it, then do like this (shoot it with an arrow)." I said, "O Allah's Apostle! Sometimes when we are in battles or on a journey we want to slaughter (animals) but we have no knives." He said, "Listen! If you slaughter the animal with anything that causes its blood to flow out, and if Allah's Name is mentioned on slaughtering it, eat of it, provided that the slaughtering instrument is not a tooth or a nail, as the tooth is a bone and the nail is the knife of Ethiopians."
2-Sunan Abi Dawud (2856)
Narrated AbuTha'labah al-Khushani:
Grade: Sahih (Al-Albani)
The Messenger of Allah (saws) said to me:
AbuTha'labah, eat what returns to you by your bow and your dog. Ibn Harb's version adds: "The trained (dog), and your hand, then eat, whether it has been slaughtered or not slaughtered ".
Why We Chose the Middle Path
Large UK chicken plants process millions of birds weekly on conveyor systems. Non-stun systems often cause chickens to see other birds being slaughtered, which is discouraged in Islam.
Prophetic guidance:
"Allah has prescribed excellence (ihsan) in everything..." (Sahih Muslim, 1955)
Witnessing slaughter causes panic, fear, bruising, broken bones, and sometimes death before slaughter, producing wastage, which Islam forbids:
"Indeed, Allah does not like the wasteful." (Surah Al-Anam 6:141)
Our stun-to-recover method keeps the bird calm and alive at slaughter, reducing fear and injury, producing better-quality meat, and remaining within Halal guidelines.

Yes! Our lamb and beef are organic, grass-fed, and raised naturally in the UK. This ensures superior flavour, better nutrition, and high animal welfare standards.
Yes, all our chickens are grain-fed. This produces a more balanced diet for the birds and results in tender, high-quality meat with excellent taste.
Since 2018, UK regulations around "free-range" labelling have changed due to avian influenza (bird flu) restrictions. Many chickens sold as "free-range" are now kept indoors for extended periods, meaning "free-range" often isn't truly free-range anymore.
At MUSMEAT, we've chosen a more honest and practical approach:
We work with local UK farmers who raise grain-fed chickens under excellent welfare conditions and process them at one trusted Halal certified abattoir.
This allows us to provide the freshest, safest, and 100% genuinely Halal chicken — without the inflated price tag that often comes with misleading "free-range" labels.
By being transparent, we save you money while delivering real quality and authenticity, not marketing terms.
No — we believe consistency is key to quality. We only use one trusted abattoir for our beef and lamb, and one for our chicken. This ensures that every product we supply meets our strict standards for Halal authenticity, freshness, and quality.
Yes — Unlike many suppliers who self-certify which is not recognized as a valid certification all our abattoirs are third-party Halal certified. They are regularly regulated and audited, and we maintain up-to-date certification records. All our meats are fully traceable and comply with UK food safety regulations.
Yes, we also sell UK-grown natural honey. Our honey comes straight from the hive, then sieved, jarred, and labelled — with no heat applied at any stage of the process. It's pure, raw, and full of natural nutrients.
